The 17th International Convention and Fair Informática 2018 is underway.

The 17th International Convention and Fair Informática 2018 opened its doors on March 19 with a round table about the progresses made in the informatization process of the Cuban society. It was presided by Jorge Luis Perdomo, First Deputy Minister of the Cuban Ministry of Communications (Mincom).

This event, which will be taking place until March 23 at the International Conference Center and PABEXPO fairgrounds in Havana, qualifies as one of the most important ones of this field of activity.

Grisel Reyes, president of the Informatics and Communications Group (GEIC), during a meeting with the press, stated that amongst other purposes one of the most important ones is to potentiate the image of Cuba through the technologies development capacity of its professionals.

Also, she informed that the International Fair will be inaugurated on March 20, with the participation of Russia, China, Spain, Venezuela, Panama, Canada, Brazil, Portugal, Germany, and Cuba.

In it, there will be exhibitions about important solutions and projects that will contribute to the development of ICTs. she explained.

Among those, she highlighted the electronic government system, from DESOFT, that speeds up and reduces the costs and/or activities regarding the public system, this system features a portal that facilitates institutional support processes and creates channels in order to increase civic participation.

A solution that looks for trustworthy, consistant, and real-time available information in order for health care services to increase their services quality, at its different levels, will be the cover letter of the enterprise SOFTEL, asserted its director.

The president of GEIC also talked about the development of the Business Forum, which is to begin on March 20 at PABEXPO, in this forum the results of some of the most important practices regarding the ICTs will be revealed. 

Concerning this topic, he referenced the Radio Regulations and its worldwide harmonization of the radio spectrum usage, and he also referred to the results of the DTMB (A) standard tests from China, presented by the company HAIER, to cite just two examples.

The International Convention and Fair Informatica, has a biannual frequency, it is hosted by the Cuban Ministry of Communications, and the Cuban Informatics Union, and it was conceived as an exchange space for personalities, institutions and organizations that are interested in the ICTs field.
