The Official Call for Informática Was Presented

The 18th International Convention and Fair Informática 2020 was scheduled to take place from March 16th to 20th, 2020. It will feature 13 scientific events that will be in session in the Convention Center from Havana and a commercial fair along with a business forum, both of which will be happening at the fairgrounds of Pabexpo.

After the presentation of the call, José Luis Perdomo Di-Lella, Minister of Communications, explained that this event should not be regarded as an specific gathering but as a stage of the work and development platform of the informatization of the country, a process in which universities and enterprises are involved too.

According to the minister, that is an important step right now, that is why strong efforts are being put into it, especially after the policy on companies, science, technology and technological national parks was passed, with the aim of stepping out of theory and into practice.

Likewise, he emphasized the need of focusing the main topics of this event on digital transformation, informatization, e-Government, cybersecurity, e-Commerce and others that directly contribute to national development. 

He also highlighted a group of topics that encompass the goals of this event, such as telecommunication services, the development of the broadband, the infrastructure and the services, aimed at socially and economically develop the country.

The Cuban official spoke about the interest there is in stimulating the productive sector and the development of ICT companies, for which purposes a group of measures will be soon enacted with the objective of encouraging the work of state-owned IT-sector companies. He referred to the importance of the Cuban Software Industry being able to present its products and services, and to verify how they look on the online Cloud.

He also assured the attendants that hard work would be done in order to make “this event the best we've ever done”. He insisted on the fact that the essence of this coming edition is made up by transversality, teamwork and the cohesion of all entities in the sector.

Regarding the Call presented by Wilfredo González Vidal, First Deputy Minister of Communications, the minister explained that it is basically an invitation to scientific-technical discussions and the exhibition of projects, initiatives, products, and services.

Similarly, he described the event as an appropriate space for the exchange among professionals, scientists, technicians, businessmen, government officials, non-governmental organizations, international organizations, and the public in general, that might be interested in researching, promoting, analyzing and knowing about the progress made in Cuba and around the world regarding information and telecommunications technologies, electronics, and automatics.
