Prof. Akira Matsuzawa will present the conference " Mixed Signal IC design for sensor applications " within the 7th International Symposium on Electronics: Design, Applications, Advanced Techniques and Current Challenges
With the advent of the IoT era, more and more sensors are expected to be used in the future. A sensor needs mixed-signal ICs that integrate ADC, amplifiers, drivers, and other modules to form the analog front-end. However, depending on each application, sensors have different specifications such as signal bandwidth and dynamic range, making the efficient development of ICs more difficult.
I will review the required compositions and performance of the analog front-end ICs for sensor applications and discuss the possibility of a universal ADC and a universal analog front-end that can cover almost all the required performance with unified ADC and analog circuits. Also, I will propose a unique idea to address the difficulty of launching the conventional IC business due to small volume productions.
