By: Odalys López Pérez

The General Secretary of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), Dr. Hamadoun I. Touré, has sent a letter to the Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, the Republic of Cuba´s Minister of Informatics and Communications, expressing his will to attend the Informática 2011 event.

The Dr. Hamadoun I. Touré, who was elected General Secretary of the ITU during the Plenipotentiary Conference celebrated in Antalya, Turkey, assumed his functions on January 1, 2007. Mr. Touré is widely renowned because of his staunch support to projects such as AFROSAT, AFSAT, PANAFTEL (Panafrican Telecommunications Net), as well as his contributions to many conferences and meetings of the ITU, INTELSAT, RASCOM, PATU (Panafrican Telecommunications Union), PANAFTEL and CAPTAC (Central Africa´s Postal and Telecommunications Administration Conference). He has also accompanied us during other editions of Informática in Havana, and made a keynote speech during the 13th Convention and International Fair Informática 2009.

Once again, our country and the Ministry of Informatics and Telecommunications´ sector will be honored by the presence of the General Secretary of the International Telecommunications Union, the most important United Nations organization in charge of the information and communications technologies.
