SPECIAL SESSIONS
4TH NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON RADIO SPECTRUM MANAGEMENT
Purpose and scope:
The purpose of the workshop is to create a space for dialogue between regulators, operators and academia to analyze technical-regulatory challenges, harmonize standards and promote best practices in radio spectrum management, with an emphasis on: digital transformation, 5G/6G, non-terrestrial networks, regional cooperation before WRC-27 and interoperable solutions for emergencies. Aimed at national specialists and those from the Caribbean region, it seeks to strengthen national capacities through the exchange of comparative international experiences.
1. Radio Spectrum Management.
Application and challenges of implementing the Resolution on charging for the use of the radio spectrum. Online procedures platform: current status. Update of the National Table of Frequency Band Allocations. Spectrum management innovation projects.
2. Cuba's Path to WRC-27.
Work of the study groups. Priority issues for Cuba.
3. Radio Spectrum and Digital Transformation.
Allocation of frequency bands for 5G and aeronautical safety. Results of the pilot test conducted by ETECSA. Case studies: IoT and smart cities.
4. Non-Terrestrial Networks and Direct-to-Device (D2D) Communication.
Satellite Broadband Internet. Direct-to-Device (D2D) communication, Satellite IoT. Regulatory and technological challenges.
5. International Notifications and their Importance in Spectrum Defense.
International shortwave (SW) broadcasting notifications. Notifications for ship stations in international waters. Notifications for International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) systems in areas of interest.
6. Radio Spectrum in Emergencies.
Critical communications for disasters. Aeronautical and maritime Search and Rescue (SAR) systems. Interagency interoperability.
7. New Services.
Ultra-wideband and massive IoT. Private 5G/6G networks. Applications for Industry 4.0.
8. Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) Transition.
Current status and use of the digital dividend.
