Stand Cuba

From March 18 to 22, 2024, as part of the 19th edition of the International Convention and Fair Informática 2024, the results of the contest “PANORAMA DE LAS TIC EN CUBA” (OVERVIEW OF ICT IN CUBA) will be presented at the Cuba Stand.

For the selection of projects, the Ministry of Communications invites entities and all economic stakeholders in the country to submit projects based on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), which could be: products, services, solutions and integrated applications.

The main objectives are:

1. Promoting the participation of entities and economic stakeholders of the country that are linked to the development of ICT in Cuba, turning it into a motivation to the creative, innovative and scientific-technical process of production and services as part of the process of digital transformation of society.
2. Showcasing and informing the country and the world about the main results of the process towards the digital transformation of the country in the last two years.

Purpose of the Contest

Showcasing projects linked to the different areas of ICT, which have been conceived and developed in the country as part of a national or branch solution, and which due to their quality and novelty are worthy representatives of the development achieved and deserve to be represented at the Stand Cuba.

When selecting projects, it will be taken into account that, among other aspects, they comply with one or more of the following characteristics:

1. They should be innovating projects or solutions.
2. A contribution with its own development and national integration, making it possible to continue advancing on the path to technological sovereignty.
3. They should be products, services, integrated solutions or applications with a relevant contribution to the economic development of the country or the quality of life of the population.
4. A contribution to the country’s strategic objectives of import and/or export substitution.

 To select the projects, the jury will consider, among others, the following aspects:

• Quality and thoroughness in the documentation delivered.
• Economic and social impact evidenced in the endorsements presented and tangible results.
• Technological elements used in the development of the solution.
• Contribution to the country’s import and/or export substitution.
• It has not been previously selected for the STAND CUBA.
• Projects that are the results of others that may have been selected in previous cases will also be considered, provided they are spinoffs that modify or improve the original services.

Entities and economic stakeholders involved in the development of ICTs in the country, regardless of the sector to which they belong, may participate.

1. They may be linked to production and services, dealing with solutions related to ICT, telecommunications, electronics, robotics, automation.
2. Its scope will be national or branch, with demonstrated impact.
3. The submissions to the jury shall be made in digital format. The submission of the projects must comply with the following requirements:
   • Digital format in PDF, Arial 12 font, 1.5 spacing.
   • No more than 8 pages structured as follows:
   • Title
   • Main author and his/her data
   • Names and Last Names, academic background, entity (In case of being an economic stakeholder from the private sector, please include identification)
   • Telephone numbers and e-mail address.
   • Abstract (up to 250 words)
   • Introduction (one page)
   • Body (Technological Solution, Economic and Social Impact)
   • Conclusions (one page)
   • Annexes (including endorsements) (They are not considered as part of the 8 pages). In case of including audiovisuals, they must be delivered personally to the Permanent Office of Informática 2024, at the Ministry of Communications.
4. The project shall be submitted via e-mail to the following address: informaticahabana@mincom.gob.cu.
5. The project may be accompanied by audiovisuals, photos, samples, etc. or have conditions for the addition of such elements.

Submissions will be received until August 31, 2023 and the results will be announced on September 15, 2023.

It will be made up by the Organizing Committee of the event and by specialists of recognized prestige in ICT activities, including the academic, state and private business sectors, as well as members of civil society and the relevant governing body.

The main prize to be awarded will be the selection and recognition as exhibitor of the project in the Cuba Stand at the Informática 2024 Fair, with the divulgation and promotion derived from its presence in the national and international context that the event itself provides, all in charge of the Organizing Committee of Informática 2024.

Each participant and winner will receive a DIPLOMA of recognition and will be mentioned in the opening ceremony and awards ceremony of the event.
