He received the engineering degree and the Master of Science (Hons.) degree in automatic control from Odessa Polytechnic University, Ukraine, in 1979, and the degrees of Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Science (Dr. Cs.) for his original work, defended at the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Land Reclamation, Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences, in 1984 and 1990, respectively. Since 1992 he is Full-time professor in the Department of Automatic Control and Computer Science at the "José Antonio Echeverría" Technological University of Havana (CUJAE), where he currently heads the Advanced Control Systems Group. He is the author of more than 200 papers and more than 40 inventions. His research interests include identification and advanced control of complex and uncertain dynamical processes, fractional-order dynamics and control, system identification for robust control, and robust control of chaotic and large time-delay systems. He is a Meritorious Member of the Cuban Academy of Sciences.
