Field Test to Evaluate the Coverage Performance of Wireless Multimedia Digital Broadcasting Network
Summary:
The presentation is related to Hybrid Heterogeneous Hybrid Television Transmission Networks to provide wide area coverage and reception on cell phones, combining a high power, high tower broadcast network (HPHT) and a low power, low tower telecommunications network (LPLT).
In particular, the results of a field test conducted in the city of Shenzhen to compare the coverage range and performance of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) DTMB-A and R16 standards are presented in detail.
The modes evaluated in the DTMB-A test are 16 APSK and 64 APSK while in R16 the modes MSC20, MSC14 and MSC9 were evaluated. The parameters recorded are field strength, successful reception and bit error rate (BER) or block error rate (BLER).
It is found that DTMB-A shows advantages in coverage and successful reception ratio and it is suggested to improve the performance of R16 by using a spatially coupled low-density parity code (SC-LDPC).
